Gold Membership, also known as Nitro Gold or Gold, is an optional upgraded membership for Nitro Type and Nitro Math that enhances the user's experience through various perks and supports the Nitro team to continue updates.
Purchasing
The tiers of Nitro Gold
Players can purchase Nitro Gold via this page. There are four tiers of Nitro Gold, available for different prices. The only difference between the tiers is the amount of Nitro cash deposited to the player's account upon purchase. These tiers are as follows:
- $9.99 - 1 Year Nitro Gold
- $11.98 - 1 Year Nitro Gold + $4,000,000
- $24.98 - 1 Year Nitro Gold + $40,000,000
- $49.98 - 1 Year Nitro Gold + $120,000,000
All prices listed above are in USD. Memberships can be purchased using a credit/debit card, Google Pay, or Apple Pay, via Stripe. These memberships do not auto-renew. Additionally, Gold Licenses can be purchased through the Teacher Portal using either a credit/debit card or via Purchase Order. These licenses differ from usual Gold purchases, as they can be given to, taken from, and transferred between students at will. Only the $9.99 tier is available for purchase from the Teacher Portal.
A user can also gift Nitro Gold to other players by clicking on the "Give Nitro Gold" button in a player's profile. The cost of the subscription does not change and the benefits remain the same.
Discounts
Sometimes Gold Membership is discounted. Below lists all of the times it was discounted and by how much.
- August 25, 2014 - September 15, 2014 (30% discount)
- September 1-15, 2015 (30% discount)
- December 10-31, 2019 (30% discount)
- November 23-29, 2020 (30% discount)
- December 1-29, 2021 (20% discount)
- December 3-31, 2022 (20-30% discount depending on tier)
Bundles
Sometimes, non-Gold members receive the option to purchase a bundle. Upon purchasing one of these bundles, players will receive one year of Gold Membership and cash, cars, or loot. These bundles last for a limited time (usually 24-72 hours after the player first logs in to see it). Gold members may also receive bundles prompting them to renew their membership before it expires.

In addition to the instant deposit of Nitro cash to their account upon purchase (if applicable), players will receive the following perks while they have Gold Membership:
- A 100% cash and 20% XP Bonus for every race and game played.
- Four exclusive rewards: The Xcelsior V12, the "Solid Gold" title, the Nitro Gold sticker, and the Raining Gold trail.
- The ability to earn all of the season rewards.
- The ability to equip up to 16 stickers at once.
- The ability to purchase all of the items in the Shop.
- The ability to purchase Nitro cash.
- The ability to use name tags and custom nitros.
- The ability to use widescreen mode.
- The ability to send cash to other players.
- The complete site-wide removal of ads, which allows for less bandwidth usage, shorter loading times, and less distractions.
- An official Nitro sponsor icon and a golden display name around the sites.
- Exclusive early access to "exciting new Nitro features".
- A golden garage theme, that's "shiny and gold, just like you".
Once a player's Gold Membership expires, any rewards that they have already earned (exclusive cars & loot, bonus cash, etc.) will remain on their account, but they cannot earn any future rewards unless they renew their membership.
Duration
The annual purchase of Nitro Gold as currently advertised
Nitro Gold expires one year after purchase. To extend the amount of time a player has Nitro Gold, they will either have to purchase multiple years of Gold for $9.99 per year at the start or renew their membership under the "Account Settings" tab in their profile to purchase more years. When their Gold Membership is close to expiring, a message pops up in their garage. They may also receive emails from Support asking them to renew their membership.

Before September 2019, Gold Membership was a lifetime upgrade instead of the current annual subscription. Anyone who got Gold before that month still has their promised lifetime Gold Membership. Gold for these players will never expire, which means that they never have to renew their membership and can continue to earn exclusive rewards indefinitely. Since September 2019, all purchases only give an annual subscription, which means there has been no way for accounts to get a lifetime upgrade since then except through transferring or by getting it from a Nitro admin.
Transfer
It is possible to transfer Gold Membership to another account by contacting Support from the account the player wishes to transfer from. The expiration date of the Membership will not be changed upon transfer.
Updates and changes
Gold Membership has changed a lot throughout the years. When it was first released, it was only available for $9.99 and promised a lifetime upgrade to all players who purchased it. It gave another achievement that had a $5,000,000 cash reward. Other initial benefits included earning the The Xcelsior V12, no ads, access to the Nitro Type forums, discounts on cars and paint jobs, an official sponsor icon, and exclusive early access to new features. In addition, it wasn't possible to gift Gold to other players.
The original NT Gold icon
Prior to April 10, 2020, Gold Membership was known as "NT Gold" or "Nitro Type Gold" and the icon had the letters "NT" on it. Since then, it has been known as "Nitro Gold" and the icon only has the letter "N" due to the release of Nitro Math.
Purchasing changes
- On December 16, 2013, a news post announced a few changes to Gold Membership. Specifically, The Gold Standard achievement is disabled in favor of a new system where Gold Membership could be bought for $9.99, $14.99, or $19.99, with the more expensive plans giving more Nitro cash upon purchase. In addition, it is now possible to gift Gold to other players.
- During early September 2019, Gold Membership was changed to be an annual subscription instead of a lifetime upgrade. None of the prices were affected. This was changed sometime around the start of the 2019 Back 2 School Event. Anyone who purchased Gold Membership before this update still kept their promised lifetime membership.
- At the start of Season 28, the level requirement to purchase gold was removed to go along with the new levelling system. Previously, players needed to be at least Level 20 to purchase Gold.
- On August 21, 2020, three tiers of Nitro Gold were removed. These tiers were:
- $13.99 - 1 Year Nitro Gold +$5,000,000
- $16.99- 1 Year Nitro Gold +$10,000,000
- $34.99 - 1 Year Nitro Gold +$50,000,000
- On October 17, 2020, members were given the option to purchase multiple years of Nitro Gold for $9.99 per year.
- On January 5, 2023, the base price of Gold Membership was doubled from $9.99 per year to $19.99 per year.
- On February 15, 2023, the base price of Gold Membership was halved from $19.99 per year to $9.99 per year.
- Starting in June 2023, the admins began releasing bundles to non-Gold members which gave the player extra cars, cash, and loot along with one year of Gold Membership upon purchase. Players usually only had 24-72 hours to purchase the bundle after the first time they saw it and the bundles were usually at a low price.
Perk changes
- When the Nitro Type forums were removed, the Gold perk of having access to them was removed from the site.
- When Nitro Type 2.0 was released, instead of having car prices reduced by 15% and paint job prices reduced by 20%, Gold members now received a 20% cash bonus every race.
- On October 30, 2019, the perk of having more friends was removed with everyone now able to have 1,000 friends. Previously, Gold members could have up to 300 friends and regular members could have up to 200.
- On April 7, 2020, the ability to change display name with no cooldown period was removed from the list of Gold perks.
- On April 16, 2020, the Gold member exclusive Show That Gold! achievement was added, which awards the Nitro Gold sticker.
- On June 16, 2020, the ability to send cash to any player, regardless of whether or not they are friends with them, became exclusive to Gold members.
- On April 16, 2021, the Gold member exclusive Raining Gold achievement was added, which awards the Gold trail.
- On March 29, 2023, name tags were released and made exclusive to Gold members.
- On June 26, 2023, Gold members could now equip up to 16 stickers per race instead of the normal 8.
- On July 7, 2023, the bonus Nitro Cash per race changed from a 20% increase to a 100% increase.
- On an unknown date, the perks of exporting race logs as .CSV files and seeing the last 90 days of races logged instead of just 30 were removed. Now, anyone can export their race logs as .CSV files and the last 90 days of races will be logged for everybody.
- On August 28, 2023, Gold members received many more benefits:
- Two shops, Retro Rewind and Nitro Cash Hub, were released, featuring items that could only be purchased by Gold members. This became the first time items released in the Shop could only be purchased by Gold members.
- The ability to purchase Nitro Cash became exclusive to Gold members, due to the Nitro Cash Hub replacing the Cash Store.
- The ability to equip custom nitros was released, only available to Gold members.
- Gold members can now toggle on widescreen mode.
Trivia
- Vielle was the first player to buy Gold Membership.
- Gold Memberships were previously able to be purchased using Bitcoin. That option has since been removed.
- Clicking on the Nitro Gold portion of an upgraded player's garage results in a gold confetti animation appearing.
- If a player is logged in when their Gold Membership is supposed to expire, it will not expire until they are completely logged out.
- Gold member only achievements have a golden medal beside them instead of a silver one and a golden outline. It will also sparkle if the player has Gold Membership.
- Gold Membership used to come with a free $2,000,000 bonus for the $9.99 price. Now, there is no cash bonus for that price.
- Clicking on a purchase link to buy someone Gold Membership who already has lifetime Gold will result in a pop-up that says “Error: [insert name here] already has lifetime Gold!”.
- Following the increase in price of Gold Membership (from $9.99 per year to $19.99 per year), the teacher portal falsely displayed Gold Membership being $9.99 per year even though it would charge $19.99 per year. The error was fixed after Overcomer reported it. He was refunded the full price and received one year of Gold for free.
- If a player has an email tied to their Nitro account, they receive emails from Support 30 days, 10 days, and 1 day prior to their Nitro Gold expiration, reminding the player that their Gold Membership is about to expire.
